Unlocks:
The first thing I would like to go over is the stock KV, as it sits the stock KV is fairly bad. The 85mm gun is too weak to reliably punch holes in targets, in order to fix this you must first unlock the suspension upgrade. Once you have the suspension I would recommend unlocking the 122mm gun It uses HE only and it reload is slow but with it you can finally start to rake in the xp. In order to use the 152/107 guns (but more on that later) you need to research the KV-2 "Fridge" Turret, untill you have either the 152 or 107 guns I would NOT mount this turret onto the tank due to the lower traversal speed and its rather large size. Now you have a choice on what gun you can unlock either the 152mm "derp" cannon or 107mm cannon(it doesnt have a fancy name) I will detail the pro's and con's of both because I find both these cannons are fun.
152mm Close Support Brawler
Pro:
-Extreme damage. With 900 avg damage this is the only real big pro of this gun, it can damage most tanks well above its tier.
Con:
-Slow Reload
-Less Accurate
-Low Armor Pen with AP ammo, but with 900 HE damage you don't generally use AP and can 1 shot most medium tanks
107mm Use it like a support sniper hang back a bit and tear holes in them
Pro:
-Moderate Accuracy
-High Pen for AP rounds
-Moderate Damage
Con:
-still slow reload
Now it is up to you which you prefer because both have their endearing qualities try both you will not be disappointed
Tactics:
Tier 5 is the first Tier with Heavies so while you may think you are able to absorb all their fire because of the Match Making you most likely will be fighting above your tier and thus stay with a group of supporters. The Turret cannot depress well so try to avoid needing to aim down and because of its large profile is able to be shot without being able to return fire a.k.a. avoid hills!
Thats the gist of it If anyone has relevant information you wish to share should post it below
